I believe children are not raised soley by their parents ... they are also raised and nurtured by "the village" or society. Whenever I am around Wizard's kids I keep an eye on them. They play in the water, etc and I know that Wizard can't keep an eye on them every second. I always appreciate any help people gave me in keeping an eye on my kids. I guess it's because I am selfish - I would feel awful if something happened to them and I wasn't doing "my part".
I also do this for complete strangers ... like at a restaurant one time. There was a lady with about 3 kids and she was waiting for her husband to meet her. The other kids wanted to eat so she had to go over to the buffet with them. I purposely waited to leave my table until she was back at her table. I was watching over her baby ... but she had no idea I even did it. I didn't want to see any harm come to her family.
