Re: Trip report 9/4 - and a WARNING

As of today the SBNF as well as other California national forest are closed due to extreme fire danger. There is a major push of cooler, dryer air coming down from the north and a moderate to strong Santa Ana wind event will be happening from around now through Wednesday. This afternoon I was looking at the visible satellite images in the western coastal states and these reverse strong winds are kicking up huge plumes of smoke from the ongoing fires. The smoke up here in Apple Valley was the worst I've ever seen, arriving overnight. The winds may clear it out for a couple of days. PS, Neogeo, you beat me by seconds on your forest closure info I also read that a young man, 20 something died while hiking in Joshua Tree National Park. I think it was attributed to the hot temps.
