peciousaitiff, first off, what the cop told you is BS and in hindsight, the cop should have been directed to the SBNF website as Wizard indicated. The website clearly shows that nudity is OK in the Deep Creek area and on the hike from the Bowen Ranch .I have been hiking nude on that trail for over 40 years and have never had any issues except for some occasional looks of surprise or stares.
In addition , the BLM policy is to prohibit public nudity in the following locations: (1) Developed camping and picnicking areas containing items such as a table or toilet facility, (2) visitor centers, and (3) all ORV open areas. The BLM recognizes that clothing-optional recreation is desirable by some people, and their intent is to allow lands with a lower concentration of visitors, such as wilderness areas, to be clothing-optional. Clearly DCHs and the small portion of BLM land that is traversed on the Bowen Ranch Trail qualifies.
