Wizard, you are correct that the hike from Splinter's is 7-8 miles. I was going to do it while my daughter was living in Arrowhead, but I was going to continue thru on the PCT and be met with at the spillway. Now 173 is closed that's not really a one-day option. Still intriguing, though...
