That's impressive. The most I ever did was 2 months for three summers in a row. In high school I was a camp chef for the youngest of the three groups. We slept in those teepees made out of canvas that were prone to rain and were very hot during the humid summers on the east coast. No shower facilities as well although we did have washing stations and of course swimming in the lake was an option. Had to move the latrines every two weeks over a new hole in the ground. For hiking and canoe trips, I think we limited them to at most 4 days. I mentioned cans because one kids' canoe flipped over and a portion of our food sank to the bottom of the lake, as did some heavier camp equipment.

More recently I took my girlfriend at the time for overnight camping and some friends to Yosemite during the colder months. At below freezing outside, we were still somewhat too warm inside the tent and sleeping bags so I converted it to open sky and we got comfortable. At least one thing you don't need to deal with in Apple Valley is the constant bear activity at night. Over there at one point we heard a woman scream 'bear', two gun shots and then my friend yelling 'oh god' in the tent next to us. The gun shots were rangers who happened to be in the area firing rubber bullets to scare it off.
