DLM, That relatively short dead end road is on USFS lands. A barbed wire and wooden stake cattle gate was put up there after the Willow Fire in 1999. Since then its been broken down to just a piece of barbed wire across the opening now. Its not a legal part of the road system out there. I know some people who have parked there over the years, but there is also still the possibility of a fly over sherriff helicopter spotting your vehicle and reporting it to the USFS rangers. Just something to consider if you wish to use that parking area.. It is a convient place to park being quite close to the Bowen Ranch Trail and closer to DCHS than the USFS official parking area where the kiosk is just up the canyon a ways.
