3n14 is very much open and in very good condition. In 1991 or 1992 Some one put fiber optic cable under the road. For better web access in the Big Bear area.Since then the road has been improved and improved and our friends at the Oak springs have been making sand hill much easier to maneuver up. Sand Hill was that troublesome hill about 1 mile from Bowen ranch road that some have trouble going up, because of the sand and steep trajectory and long distance. I can not recall it ever being closed.
Some, after the Big Bear earth quake purposed they pave it to make a separate option for getting off the mountain during an emergency. A very good idea when you look at what happened to the 330 route. If and when they do you will see property values in that area skyrocket and visitation to D.C.H.S. also.?
For those unaware, The Moon tribe have been having amazing parties at Oak Springs and enjoying the remote location to the MAX. Is this a great country or what? Another good reason to improve access.
