Ken, Where I park to begin my hike is on route 3. Where I park also is not a developed parking area like the Lower Forestry Parking Lot which is further to the east on route 3. Just park in a convenient spot by the first Forestry sign. Route 4 begins a couple hundreds yards before you reach the Bowen Ranch Building and is on your right going in. The gate at the beginning of route 4 is green and is metal. While traveling route 4 and 3 there are no wooden gates. so I'm not sure what you where referring to. Just follow the directions I've given in part #2 of the peice I wrote about Northen Access above. Directions are at the bottom of part #2. I'll try that address again for the map you suggested. I'm curious to see what it looks like.
