Coyote :-) A friend of mine calls me by that nickname :-) I hike in Granite Mountains northeast of Apple Valley, and there are a couple of places that I frequently visit, and since I walk the same way when I go there, a path has formed, and I call it my " Coyote Path " :-) Regarding your information about an ice shelf, and a big storm. I'm not sure if you are referencing my post in this thread about the retreating extent of the " Arctic " ice cap, which essentially floats on the Artic Ocean. I had also done a post in SC25 about August satalite images that showed an open water channel had formed from the ocean surrounding the Artic Ice Cap, all the way to the North Pole, unprecedented. Also this summer record sized Polynea's formed in the Arctic Ice Cap. You reference a big Alaska Storm, and say big waves propagated to " Antartica " causing " the " ice shelf to break up. I think you are referring to the event of " one " major ice shelf of Antartica, suddenly disentigrating some time ago. I had seen no reports that waves from an Alaska storm were the cause of this ice shelf breakup. If so, that would be amazing that the Alaskan waves could cause such damage clear down in Antartica. I also saw a recent report that warmer than usual undersea currents are being detected off the coast of Alaska, moving in the general direction of the artic, which could be accelerating the melting of the quickly retreating Artic Ice Cap.
