A story on NPR yesterday talked about the discovery that the breakup of the ice shelf in Antartica resulted from an extremely large storm in Alaska with 45 foot waves. The waves were relatively small when they arrived in Antartica but large enough to push the ice shelf against the shallow bottom and crack the ice causing it to drift and separate. The reason, more violent storms because of "Global Warming." More to follow.
