The weather up in Juniper Flats has been cooler in the afternoons when the cloud cover blocks the sun. Combined with the ever present afternoon breeze, the effect has been a welcome relief to the torrid temperatures of July. The rumbles of thunder have been present along with some rain sprinkles although no measurable rain has fallen in the Village. Nights are warm and perfect for sleeping out under the desert sky. Hotspringers need to remain aware of the potential for a wall of water to sweep down Deep Creek Canyon should a thunderstorm stall out upstream in the Devil's Hole region. This has happened in the past and I believe that phorum regular Wizard was witness to one such event.

Traffic has been light this week as the heat keeps visitation down. The hubcap lost and found has some new additions as the bumps and ruts make for some good collecting along the roads. The snakes have been very active of late and I managed to relocate a rosey boa that had chosen the road to sun itself in. Neighbors are reporting rattlesnakes being active so hotspringers should be aware when hiking. Please try not to kill them as they eat the rats and squirles and mostly avoid human contact if they can. A suprising number of snakebites occur on the hands of humans. Well...thats it for now. Stay cool everyone.
