Katrina writes: "I think we should start by finding out from the agencies involved what their current and past budgets are for law enforcement in the area. How do they plan to manage the area with regard to law enforcement? They acknowledge that there will be an increase of visitors to this area."
One of the organizations that provides money is the California State OHV Commission. They provide a portion of the funding for law enforcement on Juniper Flats and should be advised that the Barstow Field Office is accepting funding but diverting it to other areas. (Where have we heard that before?)
CORVA president Ed Waldheim is their newest member and has labeled local property owners, residents and recreationists as "far-left enviros" and indicated he will fight for J1299 in the LA Times article.
Probably a good time to point out to the Commission that making inflammatory statements in an area of lawlessness is not helping us at all. Maybe he should so the OHV community a favor and direct his energy to fighting for OHV compliance.
