Well.....when I recieved my 3 page citation from code enforcement I asked myself, is this valid? I had to honestly answer YES. So.......I cleaned up after all of those kind friends who lived at my place in my absence and have heard nothing from the county since. As far as the Bowen Ranch campground goes....it could use a portajohn or two. I dont know what kind of permits Mike has but anyoneby LaughingBear - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Yes...its true. ******** has informed the county about possible code violations in the area. And, this comes after her infamous crusade to defend us poor Village residents. If anyone has any doubts, just read the first paragraph of her post above. Its pretty self incriminating. To answer Katrina's question, human waste is harmful if injested. I believe the most recent post from me was to verify that Gail actually called Code Enforcement on a local landowner. I guess this makes her a Government informant. As far as sources of fecal coliform, there is plenty under the outhouse at the DCHS inc address on Andes trail. I have no alligience to any party involved in this ongoing feud. Well folks.....this is a classic case of an oxy-moron! Katrina...... have you been calling code enforcement about substandard housing in the area???? I am so dissapointed.by LaughingBear - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Howdy Kamon, I would like to suggest to those of you who are unfamilier with the area to obtain a topomap before hiking unknown trails. Over the years I have met many lost hikers and motorists. Bring lots of water and extra food like trailmix too. We hope you come back and try it again.by LaughingBear - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Once a vehicle travels Bowen Ranch road,it is never the same! The skinny dude looks like the kid who climbs rocks, a former village resident. (no wonder he is so skinny). Those people in the truck with the dogs are known as"the space patrol" They look menacing but are actually quite harmless and a lot of fun. The mindmeld is actually a great stressbuster, it makes you laugh!by LaughingBear - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Great pics! It has been rumored that Osama escaped to Afganistan just prior to the code enforcement raid. His whereabouts remain unknown.by LaughingBear - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Well folks.....the Village/Juniper Flats area got a heavy coating of thick wet snow this morning bringing some much needed drought relief while Apple Valley got rain with some flash flooding. Im sure that the creek rose with all of the rain and snow above. It is shaping up to be a fantastic year for wildflowers! Howdy Deepcreekers, It looks like we're gonna get a good gullywasher with this next storm. Batten down the hatches and hang onto yer hats as the wind is going to howl as well when this one blows through. We may even get some snow in the Luna/Round mountain area.Stay warm and dry everybody!by LaughingBear - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Well.....I hung out in that commune back in the 70s and it was fun! There was more trash back then because you could drive down into the canyon above the Indian campground. What is disturbing to me is the gunfire issue. Intentionaly shooting in the direction of a person is illegal. This behavior is unacceptable. Howdy fellow Deepcreekers, I wont be able to attend this month's meeting as once again I will be working this weekend. I would like to comment that I dont think it is a good idea to affiliate the Deep Creek Volunteers with a special intrest group. I would like to see the group remain focused on Deep Creek itself. I spoke with the infamous "hotspringer Roe" and got the straight story. The gunfire was aimed at a rockpile that sits infront of the old Moss ranch. I would suggest to anyone travelling the trail along the base of Round Mountain to stay on the BLM lands.by LaughingBear - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thankyou for the CEUs. I was wondering what year this case study occured. Are the CEUs still valid?by LaughingBear - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
In my opinion, it is unacceptable to shoot at people unless you are in your home and your life is in grave immediate danger. People should be free to enjoy public lands without fear of being shot at by a private property owner. Any violations of the law such as trespassing or assault with a deadly wepon should be handled by the sherrif's dept or the government agency with jurisdiction.by LaughingBear - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I just spoke with one of my family who just returned from up the hill. She said it rained pretty hard up there and the roads were passable but muddy. The snot spot on Bowen Ranch Road is a little gooey and a few ruts appeared in the usual spots. For all you soakers, expect to be wading across the creek this weekend on the sandbar. The good news is the springs are hot and the crowds should be miniby LaughingBear - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
The BLM has no restrictions on camping so enjoy the loose regulations. USFS restricts camping to designated areas only.Overnight camping is not permitted in the Deep Creek drainege on USFS lands. Different agencies, different regulations. The BLM option is for those who choose not to camp on private land at the Bowen Ranch. The best place to camp is at the ranch and the cost is around 5 dollars aby LaughingBear - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Heavy rain was reported in the Deep Creek drainage today bringing some much needed drought relief. The rock hop crossing will probably be submerged after the rain so be prepared to wade across the creek. Snow level is above 7000'.by LaughingBear - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
What does Jobe's words express here? Is it OK to disrespect the USFS guidelines of day use only? Of course, each individual is entitled to their own opinion. I for one would like to encourage people to respect the limitations on camping, open fires and glass. Overnight camping is permitted in the Bowen Ranch area, either at the ranch or on the BLM lands. Rock springs road becomes Roundup way. You now have to turn left at the intersection if you want to get on Kiowa. Its a smooth ride up the hill from the river. So... follow Rock Springs road until it becomes Round Up way, take Round Up way to Bowen Ranch Road and hang a right. Follow Bowen Ranch Road until you get there. Enjoy the weekend Tony.by LaughingBear - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I believe the area is restricted to shotguns only according to some maps I have seen. I am not sure if these regulations apply to private property though. I do know that responsible gun owners will always use a hill for a backdrop when target practicing, being very cautious not to endanger unsuspecting hikers. It is very common to encounter people target shooting in the Juniper Flats/Bowen Ranchby LaughingBear - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Skinnydippin is the local custom around deepcreek. The politicaly correct term is "clothing optional". There are those who prefer to wear swimsuits as well. Whatever your preference happens to be, the hotsprings are a truly magical place to enjoy the wonders of nature. We all hope you make it up to check it out Tristan. Howdy there GERMANY88, The creek is low today and one can cross on the rocks without getting wet. Since it is winter, this is subject to change if we get rain. Overnight lows have been down to the mid teens lately so be prepared if you plan to camp. The USFS will issue you a ticket for camping in the Deep Creek canyon. The best place to camp in the area hassle free is at the Bowen Ranch. Theby LaughingBear - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
