Wiz, no wonder I hadn't heard from you in such a long time. I made my most recent trip to DCHS in August....probably won't have the time visit again anytime soon, as most of my commutes to Vegas will be to spend time with family. There are no hotsprings whatsoever in central TX, which may be hard for me to adjust to. --NNby Nevada Naturist - U.S.A. Hot Springs
Jobe, The Hollow's fine 'cept the county park service jacked the price up there, and still charges $2 per visit above the annual pass. You can't count on common sunny weather there, like you can in the Mojave desert, but so far I've enjoyed all my visits. Don't know when I'll be back in Vegas;we'll probably cross paths at the springs when I'm there. 7 of us took a moonlight hike to AZHS near tby Nevada Naturist - U.S.A. Hot Springs
Sam, If you have to be in Vegas at 5pm for a teleconference, you need to depart from either spring no less than 2.5 hours prior. That's the very minimum to allow a moderate-paced hiker who knows the trail 1 hour to hike out and 1 hour to drive to Vegas. If you can get an early start, AZHS is worth the trip. Happy Trails! --NNby Nevada Naturist - U.S.A. Hot Springs
Hi Jobe...thanks for the directions, but I think you should be responding to Sam D. I already know how to get there and I won't be around on the 28th. Sounds like you take a different route than the one I did. --NNby Nevada Naturist - U.S.A. Hot Springs
Hi Wizard, Yes, I'm now in TX. I spent most of August in Vegas and got on the road eastward on Labor Day weekend. During my travels, I got to visit San Antonio and Spence Hot Springs in New Mexico. The scenery at those 2 places is awesome. I'll get some photos posted on the net one of these days. Are you still using your linkline address for email? --NNby Nevada Naturist - U.S.A. Hot Springs
As mentioned, the common trail access to GSHS is scheduled to remain closed until Dec 04 (and I'd be surprised if it reopens on schedule, but they are making significant progress with the Nevada approach....Wizard would never recognize the access route he followed about 3 years ago). Are there any readers out there who know the current status of the access roads to the hot springs in the Long Valley caldera? I know the Sierras received lots of snow over the past 2 weeks, ending on Wednesday. I'm hoping to get in a couple of soaks this weekend, if I can get to them with a passenger car.by Nevada Naturist - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Murray, I believe you were there on Sunday. We spoke in the Arizona Pool while it was 100% naturists (about 10). The large hiking group was about 30 people from Orange County. They hiked in from the spillway. Gorgeous spring weather both days. --NNby Nevada Naturist - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Wizard, thanks for the great company. Glad you could make it to DCHS both days.by Nevada Naturist - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

You might be able to narrow it down if the locale of the photo is known. Could be a black vulture, which is only common to the southern U.S. and lower latitudes; there are also variants that look like that on other continents. Could also be a juvenile turkey vulture. I'll give you a call before the weekend. We plan to spend most of Sunday in the Long Valley area, then head back up to Carson City for lodging that night. Time permitting, we'll stop for another soak at Travertine. --NNby Nevada Naturist - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

I'm making a short getaway trip to join up with a couple of members of SoakersForum.com. We plan to visit the C/O beaches of Lake Tahoe on Friday, Buckeye & Travertine Hot Springs in the Bridgeport, CA, area on Saturday, and the Long Valley area hot springs near Mammoth Lakes on Sunday; then we'll revisit our favorite stops as time permits on Monday. I haven't been to the Hollow since December; I intend to make my first 2008 visit this weekend. A wonderful place, indeed, but I just got back from my first trip to Maui, spending a week on clothing-optional Little Beach and enjoying the Sunday evening drum circle...tough to beat that place! --NNby Nevada Naturist - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Paul, You're quite right about Soak.net's unreliability over the past year or so. I spent lots of time sharing info with other soakers and posting pictures there, only to see about half of them lost in cyberspace. I few of the former Soak.net members started a new site at soakersforum.com, which seems to be working well so far, and it has backup administrators and moderators who promptly addresby Nevada Naturist - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Awesome! I purchased airfare over a month ago to spend the weekend at DCHS and was very disappointed when it looked like access would be closed indefinitely. Hope to be soaking by noon on Saturday. --NNby Nevada Naturist - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I'd guess Crab Cooker, also, based on the surrounding view. It's the only one I didn't visit last August because someone told us the flow had ceased. I do know that the pool in the photo doesn't look like any of the ones I saw during my visit (Hilltop/Pulky's, Crowley/Wild Willie's, Shepherd, Hot Tub, & L'il Hot Creek), but Rick's generous clue about the Glass Mtns puts it in the same valleby Nevada Naturist - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hey, Wiz, I'm still undecided about my Memorial Day weekend plans, but haven't ruled out a 4-day trip to DCHS and adding a couple of extra hands to the DCV efforts on the May cleanup day. Will let you know soon. --NNby Nevada Naturist - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
