I visited the springs again yesterday. All trash bags I left last week were carried out. Eternal gratitude to whoever did that. The area upstream from the pools was mostly under control so I even had some time to venture downstream from the pools. Overall I collected 12 small bags and by the time I left there were only 7 left +a busted umbrella on the pool side of the creek. A very nice coupby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
He still does. I usually bring my own heavy duty thick tear resistent plastic bags.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Made another after long weekend visit. I expected to find a crime scene but to my surprise the place was not as bad as I anticipated. I only collected 1/2 of a bag of trash on the trail though I saw some new trash tossed over the cliff. The springs were pretty clean. Somebody must've cleaned the place up prior to my visit. I collected few bags of trash but by the time I left there were only 2by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
You should be OK assuming you are going to park at the Bowen Ranch ($5 a day per person or $10 if you stay overnight or leave after sundown). The road is quite washboardy but doable. Just take it easy. There are few washouts but nothing your car cannot handle in my opinion. Remember, nobody broke down by driving too slow. It would not hurt to have a spare tire and a tire patch kit. AAA does nby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I visited the hot springs yesterday and had a blast. The trail did not look too bad. The inbreds still toss trash off the trail but the impact was pretty minimal in comparison to last year. Overall the springs did not look overly trashed. I collected about 15 mid sized bags and a nice gent from MN collected a couple and took few out mid day to during his resupplies run. Few people pitched in andby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

You can come early to Bowen Ranch (pay $5 fee to park per person). Then hang out in the parking lot until somebody comes and agrees to guide you. Just a thought if you cannot find anyone.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I am so hairy people call me the missing link. I bet somebody saw me and reported a big foot sighting.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I reported few years ago that I was stocked by a pretty large mountain lion almost all the way to the parking lot. It kept positioning itself down the wind and I kept making a lot of noise looking at it kinda hiking backwards not to expose my back. http://deepcreekhotsprings.net/dchs/forum/read.php?1,24293,24298#msg-24298 I suspect your dog sensed a cat.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Having fluid drained from my knee and some supplemental arthroscopic procedures recently made me take it easy yesterday. I picked up a little bit of trash right on the trail on the way down without hiking to the sides. There was not much to begin with. I recall the last time it took me almost 2 hrs to get down. Whoever cleaned up the hill sides - please accept my sincerely gratitude. It wasby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks for taking a look. So, all for-residents-only roads are open, right? How is the smoke situation? Is smoke still in the air?by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Sorry, not familiar with local area. Can I drive to BR and hike to DCHS ? Many thanks in advance,by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
2 positions were posted. One was for a winter camp host. The second one was for Lizard Lee who has to apply every year. There have been some discussions on soakersforum.com and forum.salinepreservation.orgby Sam D. - California Hot Springs

In Europe, such incidents happen all the time at CO or topless beaches. These folks take up the duties of "moral police". That's why only few beaches in Paris remain topless whilst others caved in. Watch for things like this at all CA beaches. I am pretty sure that was what went on yesterday. The media block out is so nobody gets offended.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Most dogs have intolerance for hot water. Also, please consider if other people want to soak with a dog and all the filth, hair etcby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
They are fortunate you found them, Wizard. I recall few years ago a woman died after she and her boyfriend got lost in the DCHS vicinity.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks to all for the reminder. So, from now on people are going to soak their butts in the new pool upstream with the water eventually making its way to the Womb. I do not like it a bit.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
You phrased it well. I guess now it flows into the newly constructed pool. But how did it work prior to the construction?by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks, Wizard. I meant to ask if there was the flow in the dike to the Womb prior to the new wall construction.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Please remind me whether the Womb source was bypassing the Anniversary pool before the wall was constructed. I vaguely recall that the source was flowing along the wall first.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Paul, I left soakersforum a couple of years ago. I can PM you the reason if interested. I posted the same question on diy and construction forums but got only smart answers.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hi! Sorry for off topic but since so many DCHS pool builders visit this forum.... what would be the best way to enlarge a semi-circular hole in a concrete wall that's ~3.75" in diameter so a 4" ABS pipe can be installed that's around 4 1/4" in outer diameter? This is to improve a remote hot springs. I won't have any access to an electrical outlet. I cannot use gas powered toolsby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
With the deer hunting season on the way it's hard to do any work in and around the hot springs. There are more hunters than the deer and not too many people have any luck. I drained the bottom pool to scrab but do not think the visitors who came later were happy. So I'll have to wait for the season end to do any repairs etc. I did manage to put back the source pipe after somebody ripped itby Sam D. - California Hot Springs
Sent you a PM. Will post a report on Tue.by Sam D. - California Hot Springs
PM me your email address if nobody answers. I'll give you directions.by Sam D. - California Hot Springs
It would be a 6 hrs drive for Deep Creek folks ;-) I am sure there is plenty of work at DCHS. I am trying to recruit locals from Santa Barbara area. But first I need to get authorization to conduct repairs.by Sam D. - California Hot Springs
