Those bears are oppertunists and many campers are caught unaware when their vehicles get broken into. Saw a Bear sittin in the drivers seat of a new Honda at Rock Creek a few years back. Broke in for some pudding cups stashed in the trunk. Popped the drivers door window and clawed through the back seat to reach the trunk. One needs to be aware when travelling the Sierras
