It all depends where you drill. Years ago, there was an old desert rat with a long grey beard who I ran into on Bowen Ranch Road. It being very hot that day, I invited him over for an ice cold beer. Well.....one beer led to another and pretty soon he was showing me how to get water out of a stone. The geology of the San Bernardino mountains is highly fractured with faultlines. The hotsprings is at the junction of two such faultlines. The result is hot water from way deep. Its not Deep Creek water flowing up. The mineral contents are very different I am told. So, it all depends on where you drill because Juniper Flats does not overlay an aquafier like the Mojave River. Surface springs are undependable in drought times so for a good source of water one must drill into an underground spring for a dependable source. The depth is highly variable. One thing is for sure. Drought is the Wicked Witch of the West in the land of Oz. Global industrialization is affecting weather patterns worldwide.
