With all the recent growth, water in the groundwater basin has been reduced quite a bit. Given the limited rain, recharging of the aquifer is minimal. The Regional Water Agencies will continue to purchase water from the State Water Project and tap into the California Aqueduct. Efforts are also underway to divert this water from the Aqueduct to holding ponds above the aquifer where it will percolate downward. We can expect further pushes for water conservation.
