Strangely enough, it doesn't work that way. On second thought, this is the government we are dealing with, so maybe it is not so strange after all.

Leaseholders have the deck stacked in their favor. It is not enough that they reap profits off public land at a small fraction of the cost of leasing private land. We are being told that the allotment holder does not have the responsibility for keeping cattle on their side of the fence. However, if you run cattle and they stray onto public land, you are breaking the law and can be fined.

Try to get a grazing allotment and you will find out how deep and firmly implanted these leaseholders are in our pockets
