With the pools at the hotsprings having a long history of existance prior to any proposed wild and scenic designation, a grandfather clause would be in effect. The same rule applies to the dam downstream. The official USFS policy at this time discourages the activity of constructing NEW pools. The biggest threat facing Deep Creek presently is the Round Mountain grazing allotment and illegal OHV tresspass within the Deep Creek watershead. Both are the source of widespread ecological damage to the area. I hope this clarifies the issue for you Katrina. The DCV brochure is approved by the USFS prior to distribution . I dont see how it's distribution will result in the destruction of the pools.
