Prior to the Willow Fire, there was a road that went down to the Cottonwood Springs. It had been there for decades. The BLM closed the area to motorized vehicle use and this road today is overgrown with native plants after only 4 years of rehabilitation. The illegal motorcycle trail we speak of goes through the same area closed to motor vehicles and is an ugly scar barren of growth. OHV use in the area is limited to designated routes and this illegal trail wasnt even included in the route designation plan until after the public comment period had closed ! The continued illegal use of this trail has been ignored by BLM law enforcement in the area.

To clarify Katrina's question, this trail violates BLM laws restricting OHV use to designated routes only. Motorized vehicle use is banned within the area of the ACEC that it crosses in order to protect the cultural resources. This illegal trail has caused great damage and runs 10 feet from an ancient rock dwelling used by ancient native people. The persons responsible for this damage should be held criminaly responsible for their actions and also pay financial restitution for damage to rehabilitation efforts paid for by the public.

The answer to Katrina's question about the origin of this trail, it was originaly created when cattle reached the fenceline and followed it toward Cottonwood Springs. ILLEGAL OHV use did the rest. This trail would be overgrown if not for the illegal actions of a small gang of off road riders who plague the area.
