Back in the 1980s
I chased fires all over the west with the Vista Grande Hotshots
wild as the wind,had to run more than twice!
In August 1999,
my place was burned by the Willow Fire
This closure is a chance to stop and take a look
open our eyes and watch
take a step back and a deep breath
and ask ourselves...is it worth it?
The Hotshots stay alive by awareness
of the surroundings
This year an arsonist set a fire by the Mojave River forks
on a hillside by the road
This fire was jumped on by CDF/USFS crews
limited to about 5 acres by a quick response
is it better
to let Lake Arrowhead burn?
rugged country
steep hills
lots of fuel
and strong dry winds
a recipe for disaster!
This year, I believe the closure is a wise decision
The Moon is Waning Gibbous (90% of Full)
