"Non sequiturs are those literary devices which include statements, sayings and conclusions that do not follow the fundamental principles of logic and reason. They are frequently used in theater and comedies to create comedic effects." Okay, let's break this down: A federal agency (BLM, NPS... I'm sure someone will gladly jump in here and point out who the responsible agency is) is tasked with overseeing the health and well-being of a beautiful natural resource. They observe that an unspecified number of users of this natural resource are not only disregarding established laws about camping within the boundaries of this water wonderland, but are also in fact trashing (literally and figuratively) the place. This same agency, unfortunately, is beset with continuing and decreasingly debilitating budgetary and manpower cuts. However, in a contientious effort to comply with the mandates of their profession, they can: 1) Magically discover unlimited funding so that they may increase patrols to discourage miscreatants of the error of their ways, and possibly provide education so that others may be encouraged to assist in the stewardship of Deep Creek Hot Springs, or, 2) Save the springs by shutting down access with a few dollars worth of "CLOSED" signs at all points of ingress. Hmmm, this is a tough one! BTW, it's not Common Core math. And camping overnight at the Springs must be a joy, listening to the silence and sounds of nature (Snooring, farting, peeing in the river, the plastic bags rustling in the bushes...). And let's not forget stepping in someone else's s#@% first thing in the morning. So, does my "...not following the fundamental principles of logic and reason" work for you??? And, trust me, I don't find comedy in any of this.
