Thanks for the kind words, Wizard.
We were partying in our own back yard here in Oakland, Celebrating our 30th anniversary.
Please give my best regards to Dan and Dusty.

BTW - I noticed in the news accounts of the charges brought against Mr. Pusok that "Grand Theft - Horse" was not among them. Did Dan decide not to press charges. (smart!)

Here are the lyrics. I copyrighted it because too often my ideas get stolen. But any regular person can sing it, with my compliments.
If Taylor Swift or Beyonce records it, however, I will lawyer up. (:-)

The Horse Thief of Deep Creek
© 2015 by Amelia Sue Marshall
Dedicated to my friends from the Deep Creek Hot Springs community

I.
Sing of a famous bandito
About whom I wrote this corrido
The sheriff sent ten men to take Francis down
They tased him and dropped him and took him to town
But now he’s a rich man and wearing a crown.
Ay, yi yi Francis!

Chorus
Aye, Francis -
Francis, ride like the wind!
How can they know if it really is he?
Francis has stolen an identity.
Ay, yi yi Francis!

II.
In the county of San Berna’dino
Lived Francis Pusok, the bandido
They came with a warrant, a price on his head
But he saw them coming, on horseback he fled.
He galloped five miles through the desert instead.
Ay, yi yi Francis!

III.
In Deep Creek Hot Springs Dan was floating
What he said was not fit for quoting,
When Dan saw the outlaw untying his horse.
He rode up the mountain, there was no remorse
With Dan in pursuit, in his red undershorts.
Ay, yi yi Francis!

IV.
On Bradford Ridge, Dan almost caught him
Until the police chanced to spot him –
The cops thought that Dan was the outlaw they sought
Handcuffed him down on the ground where it’s hot
For the loss of dear Dusty, Dan was so distraught.
Ay, yi yi Francis!

V.
In the hot springs, the people all bare
Saw the copter come down from the air;
Out on the Freedom Trail, deputies spread
Angry, dehydrated, faces all red;
Vowed to beat the offender upside the head.
Ay, yi yi Francis!

VI.
By Kinely Creek Bridge ‘swhere they caught him,
They pulled out the Taser and shot him;
Ten deputy sheriffs had Frank to abuse
Internal Affairs guys out looking for clues
Need only tune in to the NBC news.
Ay, yi yi Francis!

VII.
Sheriff John of San Bernardino
Can’t patrol the night club or casino
(spoken deadpan)Ten sworn personnel out on paid administrative leave,
And one workers’ comp claim that Dusty achieved
Delivering a swift kick to Deputy Steve.
Ay, yi yi Francis!

VIII.
Dusty is the best horse in the west
Reunited with Dan, who’d have guessed?
Though Dusty suffered some cuts and contusions
He spoke not a word as to his conclusions –
And carried Dan back to complete his ablutions.
Ay, yi yi Francis!

IX.
Four children of Francis, the bandit
Will wonder some day if he planned it;
(spoken)Six hundred fifty thousand dollars out of court he won
Paying his back child support must have been fun
With faithful Jolene, found his place in the sun!
Ay, yi yi Francis!

X.
Now that you’ve heard my corrido
Beware of San Bernardino!
In the high desert heat, even white guys they beat
Not only the black and Latino!
