Well, here's the official stand from the PCTA. Their permits do not override local rules. I removed the dude's and my name for privacy.

Hi **********,
Great questions.
No, the PCT Long Distance Permit does not over-ride any rules. No camping zones still stand.
Length of stay is dependent on the local land agency. You'll need to ask them for the specifics.
The PCT corridor has not yet been defined. It's something that we're working with our agency partners on.
Best,

Hi I have one question about PCT permits. Some of the spots along the trail are designated as "day use only, no camping allowed" although they fall within the PCT corridor. I'm specifically asking about the Deep Creek Hot Springs area in the SB National Forest, CA. Is it true that a permit overrides this local rule? Also, how long is one permitted to "camp" at a specific spot and what is the distance that defines the PCT corridor (e.g. within 200 ft of the trail)? Thanks!
