Snakes are cold blooded. That is their blood is warmed by the sun. So they hibernate when it gets too cold for the sun to warm them. Yes, it is that simple.
I was at the springs yesterday and a snake was reported in the grass above the spring area. He was warming from the heat there with help from the sun.
Please help when visiting by hauling out trash. Enjoy !
