mxa, like neogeo said, going to Deep Creek on the weekend is never a good idea. Crowds, dogs, loud music, trash, excesive alcohol consumption are much more of a problem on weekends than weekdays. I've been going to Deep Creek for over 30 years and I ALWAYS go early on a weekday.
Another major difference between Lake Tahoe's Secret Cove and Deep Creek is the difference in population in the surrounding areas. Deep Creek is so close to a Major urban area with millions of people that it definitely reaches carrying capacity. Graffiti is also much more common in this area than Lake Tahoe, which doesn't have so many people.
There are many, many great hot springs and nude beaches in California where one can go nude. I've been to most of them. Besides Secret Cove and Deep Creek, there's 5 Palms in Imperial County, Big Caliente, Little Caliente, Las Cruces, Gaviota Beach, More Mesa Beach , Guadalupe Dunes in Santa Barbara County, Pirates Cove in San Luis Obispo County, Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur, Sykes Hot Springs, and Garrapata Beach in Monterrey County, and Baker, Red Rocks, Rocky Point HS, and RCA Beach in San Francisco to name just a few.
And of course Blacks Beach, where I go daily, is a great nude beach. I would stay away from San Onofre as rangers are still hassling nudists.
I believe you will not be "disappointed" in Deep Creek if you go again , but on a weekday, or any other season besides summer. Frankly, I think summer is the worst time to go.The hot pools are so much more enjoyable in Fall, Winter ,and Spring.
