You have much longer experience at DCHS than most of us, Celfire, but I have never witnessed any problems with or for single woman visitors to the springs. A bad apple at the springs can happen anytime, but thankfully is rare at least on weekdays--I'm talking about rowdy drunken male (and female) visitors. And they can threaten men or women of course--surely I have not enjoyed some of my run-ins down there with drunken guys. But it is rare and usually something you can avoid. On almost all of my trips to the springs this year, there was at least one if not more single woman visitors. Sometimes these women would hang out together, and talking to them, I learned that they had come on their own and just started hanging out together once they realized they had both traveled to the springs on their own. As I often do with other people that I meet when I come to the springs on my own, without my wife or my friends. I'm just trying to say: sure, if you can come with friends, come with friends, but mostly the springs are a peaceful and safe--and respectful--environment. And the regulars like those of us posting here also work to keep it that way.
