I'm curious, what made the young couple you met at the springs, "hip" in your opinion? The slang word, "hip," an update to its predecessor, "hep," has been around since at least the early 1940's and had many meanings attached since then, so which meaning did you attach to the pair, or is there now a new one you're using?
