Wow. That is a generous gesture.
One of the disappointing things about this mishap is that, out of 7 cars I tried to flag down, only one stopped. (And, she wouldn't do anything to help on her own. Fortunately, she went and got a male friend to come back and pick me up.) The rest sped away, worried that I was an axe murderer or something. How is it that we have become so fearful that we will ignore indications that someone needs help because of an overriding concern to protect ourselves?
