Hello Mojave :-) The segement of my last post you referenced, "The good news is that there is still time to turn it around.", was part of the Mass Extinction article, and was written by its author. I agree with your sentiments Mojave, regarding your observation that " the momentum of our current lifestyles " has very likely taken us as societies, beyond the point of making any meaningful turnaround towards reasonably mitigating the many increasing pressures wrought by man's activites. As you also suggest Mojave, person's and communities should be actively seeking to create for themselves, various means of sustainability, that can provide them in some measure, the tools necesary to cope with drastic kinds of changes on many levels, forcast as new realities for our near term future. Don't expect our government to save you, in that they will become completely dis-functional, in a senario of severe economic and social disruption. You saw clearly how inept the response was for the Katrina disaster, now just expand that kind of disarray to a country wide level.
