I've been noticing some trip reports here recently about how very high the river is right now, and how therefore very dangerous the crossing is.
I know how to get to D.C.H.S from the Bowen Ranch side. If I wanted to get there from the Pacific Crest Trail side (so, be able to skip the river crossing altogether), what would be the best (and shortest day-hike) way to do that? Where would I park (googlemaps link?), keeping in mind that I drive a regular sedan, so I can't do anything too rugged off-roady with my car. Something like the drive up Bowen Ranch Road is fine. Something where a high-clearance vehicle is clearly required, not so much.
Does such day-hiking access exist from the Pacific Crest Trail side?
Thanks!
Joel
