Thankyou for further clarification of this incident Katrina. I do aggree that injuries of the type you describe are consistant with a beating. Rollovers produce multiple fractures as well as head injuries, not half circle indentations with eccymosis.
I do still question the validity of this unfortunate man's memory of the names. Strange things do happen in medicine, but he was comatose in 1992. The dates of rememberance are not until he was working with Nancy Bates in 1996 and 1997. Most likely, this poor man is experiencing a common occurance among coma survivors known as "filling in the blanks".
Please seek out some other expert medical opinions that are independent of our discussions here on the forum as our opinions are vastly different at times.
Are there other independent witnesses that have come forward that saw what happened that night? I aggree that this case was mishandled if it occured as you describe. My experience has been medical personel and law enforcement go out of their way to help and protect crime victims. I for one am a strong patient advocate and wouldnt tolerate inaction of the kind you describe. Most of my co workers feel the same way. We work hard to protect and advocate for our patients.
