Might be a bit late answering this question but here goes! If you go north at the barbed wire you can go through some deep sand to get down or if you go a bit more towards family canyon (30-40' from the barbed) you can find a better path down. Once you get on the proper trail (both initial ways down really are not clearly denoted by well worn single track) the only dangerous parts are when you are crossing the rocky areas as some areas are washed out and there are plenty of jagged rocks to hurt yourself on. Past these rocks the trail is pretty much a cakewalk.
