That sounds like a nice run P. You mean the old nude beach (the state park nude beach before the Pendleton fence) looks run down and rocky? Well it is, indeed. I've watched it ever since they started citing naturists and drove away the public. First they removed all garbage cans and such amenities from the beach. Given the numbers of people who used to come to this part of the beach, they had trash cans every 100 yards or so, and frequent collection. Once the naturists were gone, it wasn't like other clothed members of the public suddenly wanted to start using this beach. It was thus abandoned. The Ranger patrols began driving their pickup trucks across the sands, where there used to be 100s of people lying out. This ripped up the beach. There was the incident where the park staff buried a sea mammal under the old nude beach. The nude users used to care for the beach, the sands, pick up garbage, all the things that happen with regulars at Deep Creek. With the nudist public driven away, the beach has gone back to a wild state. The accumulation of pebbles and rock, the growth of plants and weeds, the ruts caused by the pickup trucks, all this is the legacy of the crackdown on the nude beach. The DPR ruined a beautiful and much loved beach. Yes, the Pendleton side is now much more attractive. But I long for the State Park side to come back, along with the community it fostered. It was lovely there. As a nature site, it still is beautiful, with the cliffs and sea. Very unique. But the nude beach was lovely and it has been so abused by the DPR.
