Sounds like a fun time! I wish I was able to get out there as consistently as some of you guys. Thanks for the update on Freedom; my 4x4 should be more than capable of dealing with the new washouts/ruts, but with all the changes over there in the past few years, it's good to know that it's still a viable place to park/boondock. I'd rather camp out with just the people I came with, and certainlby GeneralRap - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Due to having a kid, Covid, etc, it's been a little over 3 years since I've been down to the springs. The wife and I are finally planning on going again later this week, and I was wondering what the status of the Freedom Trail parking area was? Reading through the last few years of posts on here, it seems like there's been some changes at Bowen, there's a new campground/parking area, and not a loby GeneralRap - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
The 4x4 parts don't concern me much; I have a vehicle that's more than capable. I'd park at Bowen, but there's no way for me to get there before sundown, so the gate is shut by then. Just wasn't sure if anyone had heard anything about any rises in vandalism out there.by GeneralRap - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hey all; planning a trip to the springs in a few weeks. It has been WAY too long since my wife and I visited. I was wondering if anyone had a good gauge on how the vandalism/etc was doing in the Freedom Trail parking area? I had a buddy that went a few weeks ago mention that he had heard some complaints and disgruntled stories concerning the safety of people's vehicles while he was soaking. Unfortunately it has been since last May since my wife and I have been able to enjoy DCHS. However, we did have any interesting "encounter" while soaking late that Saturday night, around 1am or so. This drunk guy comes into the Womb with a fat bag of weed, and proceeds to roll himself a blunt and tell us extravanant stories. After asking him what he does for a living, he simply repliby GeneralRap - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Unfortunately, due to work, weekdays are not an option for me; it also doesn't make much sense to make the drive and not stay at least one night. I've always wanted to come on a Tuesday/Wednesday and enjoy a slower, less crowded time. Saturday afternoon/night was quite pleasant; the unexpected chilly weather made everyone pack up and leave early in the afternoon, and the rest of the day/laterby GeneralRap - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I was just there this weekend, and that's correct; the Anniversary pool's "waterfall" hose was dismantled, and some drunk Apple Valley locals were attempting to use it as a siphon in the Womb to "clean" algae (ie: show off). The hose is currently broken in two and laying next to where it belongs by the Anniversary pool. The old sandbag pool under the Serenity pool was muchby GeneralRap - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
