I just took the Bradford Ridge trail this weekend and updated the page with some photos http://studentreader.com/deep-creek-hot-springs/#Bradford-Trail Definitely suggest the Bradford Ridge trail for anybody coming from Los Angeles or San Bernardino. It is the best if you are coming from the south. If you are coming from Victorville (coming from the north) then take Bowen Ranch ... or if yby leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hey thanks for the update on the Bradford Trail... Glad to hear that it's roughly close, hopefully I'll get to fill it in soon. Well any time is fine for me actually, I live in Pasadena and finished summer school so now it's just job hunting. Lots of time on my hands. Can't wait to get back to Deep Creek!by leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
OK so a few months ago I tried accessing the Bradford Trail by taking the 173 from Arrowhead Lake Road. CLOSED! Route 173 was gated off after a few minutes along the road and what I could see beyond the gate looked horrid and full of holes. So I checked out the map and saw that the Bradford Trail seems accessible from the south. I drew out te revised route here http://studentreader.com/deep-crby leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I'm going to do some research and re-write the page since it obviously got out-of-date faster than I kept up with it. Thanks for the heads up. I should have a new page up tomorrow.by leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I updated the write-up to encourage the hot springs culture more... including being prepared and self-sufficient. Yesterday I brought out two bags of stranger's garbage that had been left behind and kindly piled up by Jobe. While my friends and I were hiking out a visitor nicely volunteered to carry one of the bags... he thought it was a nice effort. So hopefully the hot springs will stay niceby leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I drew out a detailed Google Map here... see the trail in pink. Turn right when you reach Bowen Ranch, then make every left. There's a link directly to the Google Map. I think you can import it to your device if you have a smart phone or something like that. http://studentreader.com/deep-creek-hot-springs/#Directions_to_Deep_Creek_Hot_Springsby leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Alright I updated it... My attitude has changed so much since I wrote that first article. Definitely glad you pointed out all that! http://studentreader.com/saline-valley/by leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
That's such a good point about not relying on what's there, because it may not be there when you need it and it should be up to you to cover your own needs. I'm going to update it today and also fix the part about the source --I'll relocate it to a separate section I'll create for myths and history at the hot springs.by leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hey, Thanks for the kind words -- and the permission. You caught me! That'd be awesome if the webmaster put a link to my guide. I take more photos each time I go so it should fill out nicely. I'll start uploading photos with higher resolution. I'm hoping to come back in the next week, maybe we'll run into each other again. I'll clean up whatever litter I see, stay out of people's way... tryby leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hey, Going in during the week would be awesome. This week I am volunteering or working every day except Sunday. The next week would be awesome. Like the 20th or 21st. Do you ever camp there? Best, Lby leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hey all, I am wondering who else is headed in from Los Angeles to Deep Creek sometime soon -- we can carpool and I'll be happy to pack some food and pitch in a little for gas (I'm a recently college graduate, job hunting, so finances are tight). Perhaps I should correct it to read "aqueous fecal levels, which have attracted rats."by leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I haven't updated the Saline Valley guide yet but after reading your message I've already updated the Deep Creek guide. That's so true, I saw a really gross injury at Deep Creek last time and have seen people vomiting on the uphill hike out of there. Fortunately I am in good shape, very careful, thoughtfully prepared and dedicated to keeping the place nice -- but not everybody else is, and they nby leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks! I really appreciate it. Added that information. Looking forward to going back soon to get more photographs to fill in everything, and try new trails, namely the Bradford Trail.by leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I appreciate that input, I updated it -- do you know the names for the other pools by chance?by leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks!by leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I was wondering if there's a coordinating body for maintenance of trails. My small contribution is to pick up litter and of course pack out what I pack in -- next time I'll go ahead and bring a hefty bag to fill up with other people's litter.by leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I roughly outlined the Bradford Trail... I'm going to try that next. Can't wait to fill it in with photos and verify my GPS coordinates for it.by leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hey, Thanks, and that's so true... Tecopa was my first time at a clothing-optional place and it was really nice, very relaxing. Then going to Saline Valley was really mind-opening. Deep Creek is the place I've been to the most and yeah being clothing-optional is really important to it. I'll emphasize that some more. Hey All, I've been putting together a guide to Deep Creek Hot Springs, and other hot springs as wel. I made my third trip to DCHS yesterday and verified that I inputted the Freedom Trail correctly with GPS. I've not yet hiked from Bowen Ranch or via the Bradford Trail so I'm not 100% if I was able to get those hikes detailed correctly (though I did trace them via satellite images). http://sby leviclancy - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
