Bucket brigade...??? Just a thoughtby Mr_Wayne - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Wizard, you are correct that the hike from Splinter's is 7-8 miles. I was going to do it while my daughter was living in Arrowhead, but I was going to continue thru on the PCT and be met with at the spillway. Now 173 is closed that's not really a one-day option. Still intriguing, though...by Mr_Wayne - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Not that I'm planning on needing their services anytime soon, but does anyone know what one of these airlift rescues costs? Just curious, as they seem to do a lot of these in the SB mountains...by Mr_Wayne - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
"Non sequiturs are those literary devices which include statements, sayings and conclusions that do not follow the fundamental principles of logic and reason. They are frequently used in theater and comedies to create comedic effects." Okay, let's break this down: A federal agency (BLM, NPS... Wait a minute! i just called up the spillway on Bing Maps. Apparently, I was looking at the spillway in reverse. When I took those pictures i had stopped at the overlook where there was a diorama describing the area, before it (the diorama) was vandalized and destroyed by grafitti. I was alone, and getting a little nervous, so I didn't continue down to the area of Lake Arrowhead Rd, where, appareby Mr_Wayne - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hey, Wizard, Mr Wayne from CT. I sent you some pictures a few years back of the spillway and the PCT taken coming down 173 (when it was still open ). Just curious as to the purpose of the spillway. It seems a bit of overkill if it's for flood control of Deep Creek into the Mojave. Does Deep Creek actually flood that much? Jobe, let's assume, for arguments sake, that not everyone monitoring the Deep Creek Hot Springs website are "friends" of Deep Creek. Please, please, please be careful what you post here. If anything were to happen to Mike Castro, particularly with his potential connection to law enforcement, certain posts may be interpreted as threats or intent. I was enjoying this report until I read your post, Jobe. Most Darwin Award candidate stories are pretty entertaining. Appealing to peoples goodness won't work, because the good people are already doing the right thing. Money, however, gets everyone's attention. Posting legal notices at DCHS seems contrary to the inherent natural environment, but it just might work (Until the notice is destroyed ). BTW, invective aside, what type of people generally leave trash at the springs, young, old, male, female, groups, coby Mr_Wayne - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

I just remembered that when my son (He's 45 now) would get poison ivy it would spread over almost his entire body. One thing that worked surprisingly well was a trip or two to the local high school indoor swimming pool. The cool water would help, of course, but the thing that would make the poison ivy disappear in a matter of days was the chlorine! I haven't been able to find any updates since yesterday. Shorts, T-shirt and snow on the ground, maybe you guys could start your weekend at the springs early and head up there. I'd go, but I'm in Connecticut... I was just thinking, there have been a few newbies that have reported taking a wrong fork in the trail leading down to the springs. It sounds like a particular spot where people unfamiby Mr_Wayne - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

The below links are from a quick google search of "firearms on BLM Forest Service land". I'm a registered pistol permit holder. I also have a modest collection of domestic firearms (No military-type, large capacity weapons). I used to hunt when I was younger, but now realize most of my missed shots were intentional.
