Please follow up with a trip report. I haven't been in several months now. Here is a link to the creek water height and conditions. Anything over 2 feet and the pools next to the creek are flooded. https://waterdata.usgs.gov/monitoring-location/10260500/#parameterCode=00065&period=P7D&showMedian=false Also, there is much more posting activity on Reddit, deepcreekhotsprings.by missingbee - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I was looking at this page and was wondering if anyone knows at what water level is the Arizona pool below creek level. It shows today at 2.02 feet, but the day of the trip report it was over 3 to 2.5 feet. https://waterdata.usgs.gov/ca/nwis/uv/?site_no=10260500&PARAmeter_cd=00065,00060by missingbee - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I wonder how this might affect Bowen Ranch legally. It's been my understanding that Bowen Ranch was just operating a toll road. At first people drove across Bowen Ranch to the forest service road to park. After the fence was put up, people still only drove across Bowen Ranch and parked on someone else's private property. Now people using Bowen Ranch have to park on his property, so now instead ofby missingbee - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I talked to the owners of the new campground and was told they are waiting on conditional use permits from the county. They were reported to the county for taking money for parking on their place. The trailers and equipment that was on top of the hill and visible from the freedom trail have been moved to the other side of the hill. When the parking area is open, you will be driving by them. I went to the warm springs and the hot springs yesterday for the first time in several weeks. At the warm springs, there is more hot water flowing into the pool and new water flowing from cracks near there. It appears the same at the hot springs. Does anyone know if this is due to the recent earthquakes or just because of the wet spring?by missingbee - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I went to the hot springs for the first time for about 6 weeks. I couldn't believe the amount of new graffiti on the trail and at the springs. It appears to all be from one childish ahole. All in the same black paint with some white paint. There is even a swastika on the trail. I talked to someone who was there Friday, so it was put there between Saturday and Tuesday morning. https://imgur.com/by missingbee - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I was at the springs Friday and 4 rangers were there around 6pm making people take down their tents. I don't know if they gave out any tickets. They also took down the slack line.by missingbee - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Just a reminder to everyone, if you see illegal activity, please call the forest service dispatch at 909-383-5645. We all need to help keep the springs clean and safe for everyone. You can get cell service at the top of the ridge on the trail going to back toward Bowen ranch.by missingbee - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I couldn't find an email, but I called the Mountaintop Ranger District and thanked them earlier today.by missingbee - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
For anyone interested the phone number for San Bernardino national forest dispatch is 909-383-5654. If people started calling when they see people camping or starting fires, maybe the rangers will come down more. If they came down enough, people would quit camping at the springs.by missingbee - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I also passed the rangers going down about dark. Looking back I saw about 6 or 7 tents and 3 camp fires. Does anyone know if all the campers were ticketed or just the people with camp fires? I for one am happy they came down. The trash is getting out of control, and if you walk behind and upstream from the springs, you will see toilet paper and feces, probably mostly left by the overnight campersby missingbee - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Is that 1 mile from the creek, or from the springs?by missingbee - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I live in Arkansas and started coming to the springs in the early 90s. Back then, I parked at the trailhead on the jeep road. I believe that is called the Freedom trail? The last 8 years or so, I come down about once a year. I now park at bowen ranch, mainly becasue I have been in a car, and partly because I thought is was less likely someone would break a window looking for things to steal.
