Darn it. Due to all of your feedback I'm off to SLO for the weekend instead of home as initially planned. Will report back.by mxa - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Opinion on some local restaurants I had a chance to try while in the area - although generally prefer to pick up a turkey provolone sandwich or two from Costco before hiking in, after swallowing the $1.50 hot dog. I prefer hole in the wall or family restaurants over chains and would recommend the ones below. Of course, there is always In-N-Out burger off of main in Hesperia. Type of crowds I'm assuming as well. My hint should have been during the previous visit when I was gathering my belongings before hiking in and overheard a couple talking with another family camping there two cars over, that given they had kids, warning them of the nudists in the area ... and that you may encounter them even at the start of the trails. I don't like to stereotype, but given the raby mxa - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Makes sense. On another note, one of those cases where I actually wish there was regular law enforcement patrols to at least target littering. In Tahoe, you see one or two sherifs on the trails and beach regularly. Feel bad for them as they are in uniform with usually two weapons to weight them down whereas everyone else is nude :-) They often stop by just to talk. However, nothing beats law enfoby mxa - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
If anyone is traveling out of town I have personally found the Hilton Garden Inn in Victorville as a favorite. It is newer and if you want the lower rate just ask. My only complaint is the noise from footsteps if you stay on the second floor. If you have status with Hilton they upgrade to a suite. I also have stayed at the Marriott. The La Quinta is rated higher though for price/satisfaction.by mxa - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I found AWD with a great suspension makes more sense than ground clearance. I tend to use Hertz vehicles as I'm on business here each week and the first time I had a Prius, which was rough. Same with another compact a week later, a Hyundai Elentra. This weekend I had an Infiniti AWD Q37x sedan with the "snow" button, which prevents wheel spin on gravel or snow no matter how hard you preby mxa - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Actually more saddened than disappointed. I live in the SF bay area but work in LA, so stay behind in S. Cali. many weekends. I discovered Deep Creek back in May and have since been there five times. When at home, I tend to frequent Secret Cove on the Nevada side in Tahoe. It's not a hot spring but a true naturalist paradise with hardly any textiles, young and old. I was hoping to get the same frby mxa - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
