The larger (1"-4" roots that went down on that side of the cleared granite were hacked by one individual that shall remain nameless. I did not agree with what was done in this manner. There were a few discussions of what needed to be done for the tree that touched these subjects. 1) A raised rock wall embankment to retain the soil 2) On top of that retained soil something to deterby thepathlesstaken - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Last Labor day it was very uncrowded, mellow and a good mix of clothed / non clothed. Any holiday you will find places that are normally packed with people to be relatively devoid of people because they are doing something "else" locally with family or whatnot.by thepathlesstaken - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

From what I have heard the Dave guy was trying to move the snake to another area because it was in a high traffic area. IMHO what needs to happen in this case (if indeed this was what was happening at DCHS) is people just need to be alerted and everyone keep passing on the alert until said snake moves out of the area on it's own volition.by thepathlesstaken - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Just have to interject some math here because I have heard and seen wild numbers thrown around in this case and others. $30,000-$40,000 a year when the toll fees were $2 (a car, a person, a?). Take $35,000 as the average between the estimated values, divide it by 365 for days in year and then take that result and divide it by 2 (I am assuming $2 a person here) to figure out how many peopleby thepathlesstaken - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Ugh, reading this and the other post you made makes me very sad Sam. Sadly I have not been able to make it out there yet due to other circumstances. Amazing how hard it is for people to comprehend the pack in, pack out method.by thepathlesstaken - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Sam the trash bear, (meant in the best possible way) that ambles off into the brush and comes back with multiple large bags filled with trash! Been planning to head to DCHS but too many things have popped up over the past few months. I will be there soon and bring some more cheap trash pickers (which I will leave), bags, and make a concerted effort to pick up OTHERS trash. Summer is almostby thepathlesstaken - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Might be a bit late answering this question but here goes! If you go north at the barbed wire you can go through some deep sand to get down or if you go a bit more towards family canyon (30-40' from the barbed) you can find a better path down. Once you get on the proper trail (both initial ways down really are not clearly denoted by well worn single track) the only dangerous parts are when youby thepathlesstaken - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Subject pretty much explains it all. I always come from the south via I-18 but this time I can visit someone up in Hesperia and just wanted to see if this way is ok for a sedan to travel on. Bing and google satellite map information is not showing how much of it is dirt or paved road. Thanks in advance!by thepathlesstaken - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Flow with the stream don't try to fight it. Right now how I view it the problem is it is a matter of just keeping up with the trash and making it easier for those that actually haul it out. This is the easiest path because it is currently being done. Informing others, being vigilant about what people leave behind and putting systems into place would be the next step IMHO. It is much hardeby thepathlesstaken - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Snapped up this photosynth on my last visit and finally got around to tagging some locations. Any more tagged location suggestions are appreciated. Viewing this photosynth is partially a curse as it takes away from the self and local lore exploration of Deep Creek. <<< Please only click the link below if you are ok with the sentence above. >>> http://photosynth.net/viby thepathlesstaken - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I am making a trash compactor in the next two days that will hopefully be able to lessen the physical bulk of further trash collections down by 30%-40%. My biggest problem when hauling trash out of DCHS is not the weight, it is the bulk that swings back and forth from my external frame pack. Smaller more compact loads that I can bungee down would really help me, and hopefully others. I wouldby thepathlesstaken - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

This was the map that I found that shows that the Bradford Trail Head parking lot area is not in an Adventure Pass area. http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5261570.htmlby thepathlesstaken - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I did a few searches on the forum and they turned up nothing confirming or denying the need so I here I post! Subject pretty much explains it all, just wanted some confirmation if you need an Adventure Pass to park at the Bradford Ridge bridge dirt parking lot? From what I can gather from the Adventure Pass web site that this parking lot is in San Bernadino National Forest and is not in a &by thepathlesstaken - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
