Los Padres National Forest officials today announced the reopening of popular campgrounds and day-use areas in the Lower Santa Ynez Recreation Area on the Santa Barbara Ranger District. These areas were closed when the White Fire broke out May 27.
The following areas will re-open effective Saturday, June 1:
• Portions of White Rock Day Use Area
• Fremont Campground
• Paradise Campground
• Los Prietos Campground
• First Crossing Day Use Area
Paradise Road will be open to the public from the Highway 154 intersection to the First Crossing. Due to continued emergency vehicle traffic in the area, the public is encouraged to exercise caution when travelling on Paradise Road and Highway 154 to allow fire personnel to safely .
The public is reminded that Los Padres National Forest is currently enforcing Level III fire restrictions. Campfires are permitted only in designated campfire use sites.
