5 Palms Warm Springs

I always wanted to visit 5 Palms Wwarm Springs oasis, so this weekend I went there to check it out. The temperature in the sun was about 110F making 90F water a nice soak. It seemed to be 10 degrees cooler under the shade the palm trees provided.

I’ve never seen so much broken glass on the ground even though I visit a lot of springs that get routinely trashed. I must’ve picked 12 lbs in the 2 days I stayed. I would not go barefoot there. I picked up a bunch of broken glass right at the edges.

The regulars play the game of listening for engine noises to see if anybody’s coming. They put clothes on as the rangers are known to harass CO folks.

Yesterday’s visit was marred by a truck full of local retards coming at high speeds. They drove by yelling at people to put clothes on and left the way they came in raising a cloud of dust. I was told that last weekend 2 rangers on 2 trucks came at high speed looking for any reason to write tickets. I guess that’s how they finance their pensions.

While I was picking up trash I found what appears to be a mine 3 feet away from the pool on the other side of short palm trees. I threw it on the ground few times trying to get the sand and dirt out before I realized that it might be an unexploded mine or charge. I poured some water on it and hid it in the bushes just in case. I am going to attach the pics of this thing so may be somebody with military experience can identify it.
