GOLETA, CA….Los Padres National Forest officials today announced plans to improve Figueroa Mountain Road (No. 7N07) during the week of October 18. The road will be closed from 8:00 am on October 18 through 5:00pm on October 22. Repairs will be made to a section of the road impacted by erosion. The closure will be in place approximately 200 feet west of the Figueroa Station. Visitors will be able to access the Figueroa Mountain Recreation Area via the Happy Canyon Road while these repairs are being made.
Santa Lucia District Ranger Kathleen Phelps said this project will provide a safer road system for fire suppression activities as well as a safer travel experience for the public. “We are constantly striving to make necessary improvements to our roads, and this work will greatly enhance the experience of visitors to this area,” Phelps said.
