I visited Deep Creek on Tuesday, June 19th, with a young woman friend who recently graduated college and was granted her greatest gift-wish, a day at Deep Creek Hot Springs. We hiked the "goat trail" from the ranch, swam a bit at the trail crossing and then moved upstream to one of the lovely beaches, taking photographs along the way as my young companion gradually transitioned comfortably from bikini to skin. The creek temperature was refreshingly cool and the warm sun tempered by cool breezes made the day a memorable one. We met many nice folks and I renewed old friendships established along the 42 years I've been hiking to Deep Creek. I noticed that the Poison Oak was flourishing a bit much in places upstream where walking could become hazardous, so I sprayed some of the most aggressive bushes with herbicide. I do plan to return soon and I'll check the effects. I'm sorry that Ms. Sycamore hadn't come down on Tuesday where we could've caught up on the news of people, places and events. Cheers, my friends, and I hope to see some of you soon.
