FIRE WEATHER WATCH MONDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FOR SOUTH...

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHOENIX AZ
545 AM MST (545 AM PDT) SUN MAY 9 2004

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH MONDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FOR SOUTHEAST
CALIFORNIA INCLUDING EASTERN RIVERSIDE COUNTY AND IMPERIAL COUNTY AS
WELL AS THE LOWER COLORADO RIVER VALLEY DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW
HUMIDITIES...

FIRE WEATHER ZONES INCLUDED IN THE WATCH INCLUDE CALIFORNIA FIRE
WEATHER ZONES 230...231...AND 232...AND ARIZONA FIRE WEATHER ZONE
131.

DISCUSSION...
A STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM AND ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED
TO MOVE INTO NEVADA ON MONDAY. TO THE SOUTH OF THE LOW...INCREASING
WINDS ARE LIKELY DURING THE DAY MONDAY. EXPECT WESTERLY WINDS 20 TO
30 MPH...AND GUSTS TO NEARLY 35 MPH. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST AND
BLOWING SAND ARE ALSO POSSIBLE WITH THE STRONGEST WINDS. IN
ADDITION...RELATIVE HUMIDITIES LESS THAN 15 PERCENT ARE ALSO
EXPECTED. SINCE HIGH FIRE DANGER ALREADY EXISTS IN THESE
AREAS...WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE TO CREATE WIDESPREAD
HAZARDOUS FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS.

PLEASE ADVISE THE APPROPRIATE OFFICIALS OR FIRE CREWS IN THE FIELD
OF THIS FIRE WEATHER WATCH.
