You make a very good point about flyers. It illustrates the reason that I prefer to hand out flyers in person instead of putting up a box where people can take them...to avoid the flyers being a part of the problem that we are trying to alleviate. I did give out about a dozen the last time I was there, and all were well received by people that I talked to in person. It's hard to say...some of them could have been left behind, too, but it did seem to me that they were appreciated, read, and probably not left as trash. I got a lot of positive feedback about DCV and other volunteers who keep the place clean.

RE: trees:
Glad to hear about the new trees. If they are alders, that is a tree that grows often right at the bank of streams because they like lots of water on their roots. That means that they will need a lot of watering during dry months. They can grow into nice shade trees for us if we take good care of them. I'm glad the tree planter hasn't given up after the last batch got vandalized. Thank you tree planter!! Most visitors were great about the trees, and I did see many people trying to keep them watered, but it just takes one person's idiocy to ruin a good thing.
