He is in charge of nothing obviously. Since things have gotten completely out of control due to his incompetence and worse. Celebrating that - Totally delusional. People are dying and he could have prevented some of this. He still could, and ... nothing. I have lost three people I know personally so far.
So actually worse than delusional American Gigolo.
To be clear - I was breaking things down into multiple issues. A first concern would be if people are still going out to Deep Creek, they come often from far away, bringing their exposure to a place that is remote, and a community that has grown wildly in the last decade, but still does not have the resources of what is in place in the city of LA for example. Hospital resources etc.
Second issue would be social distancing. If you can hike, and do so responsibly near your home for the moment, good for you. But to hike to Deep Creek - we all know the trails are really narrow. The PCT Association has called off the thru-hike for the year or season, and for these reasons. At the springs, you are not going to be alone or able to be in the pools keeping distance from others most likely. These are the other issues.
The springs have to be served by rescue teams on a regular basis due to the remoteness, things can happen - I came across a baby rattler today near my home. Things will happen - to minimize the need for such assistance right now it is very important.
Hot springs that can be easily closed are being closed. Death Valley National Park has closed Saline. Commercial springs like Breitenbush have closed down to visits. Why would you want to imagine that Deep Creek should be any different right now?
