Paul, regarding your mentioning above of a " well known presence " of various groups here in the high desert, you listed Hesperia and Apple Valley. Where are you getting that information, what source, sources? While graffiti is ugly and horrible ( I loath seeing it! ), defacing natural environments as it does, there is a " problem " of gargantuan proportions, epic in its scope for humanity, unsolvable in terms of the types of living arrangements we built up in the last 200 years, related to what powers modern economies all over the world, makes everything we do, possible. It will be transforming the social and economic landscape drastically ( think very bad ) in the coming years. The repercussions of it have already been occurring and will continue to increase. Net energy decline. The difficulties and negative circumstances that will unfold from this reality will be affecting your situation more and more even though you may not recognize or understand it as being the cause of these changes.
