While I was soaking in the late afternoon with some folks in the Phoenix Hot Pool a couple of months ago, a man hiked by and was starting to head up the hill to the PCT, then suddenly he yelled out that he was seeing a Mountain Lion down around the trees just north of the big beach area. Earlier this summer while hiking down a canyon to Deep Creek I found the remains of two Deer next to each in the sand of the wash. The hills were steep with bushes on each side. There is a main Deer trail there leading down from the higher hills to the stream. I would guess that those Deer were ambushed by a Mountain Lion. The one group of bones looked older than the others, the Deer it appeared killed at different times.
